Instructions for making a fantastically easy, yet gorgeous baby blanket using fleece and no sewing required!
Click here are some I have previously made.
What you will need:-
- Pair of sharp scissors and a sharpener (as the fleece can blunt the scissors)
- Fleece – 2 different types/pieces – 1 metre length square of each
- Tape measure / ruler
- Clips – optional
How to make the blanket:-
- Place the 2 pieces of fleece on top of each other, right sides facing out. If you want to you can use clips to hold the material in place, however I didnt feel this was needed when using a flat surface such as a table.
- Along one side measure 8.5cm in from the edge and use your tape measure to mark this line all the way along. This is your guide line.
- Starting in a corner measure 8.5cm from one end and cut at this point. Cut through both pieces of fleece up to your guide line.
- Move along the side 3cm and cut again through both pieces of fleece up to your guide line.
- Repeat step 4 all the way along the side, stopping 8.5cm from the next corner.
- Starting at step 2, repeat along each side.
- The corner pieces can be cut out leaving a square section missing from each corner.
- Tie each piece together in a double knot. Be careful not to pull too tight as this will cause the blanket to gather or cause damage to the fleece strips.
I recommend washing the blanket on a 30 degree quick wash to help remove the excess fluff.
