60th Celebrations for my father in law with a Golfing cake

You have been directed to this post by clicking on the picture on my home page.  Thank you for visiting my site and please enjoy reading this post that was published back in August last year for a very special person xx

With Colin turning the big 60 last week, we knew we had to come up with an impressive cake to match the occasion.

With golf fast becoming one of Colin’s favourite past times it was a perfect theme and it also meant I could challenge myself with some modelling and shaping of the cake.

I went to the cake shop to get a piping tip for making grass but sadly they didn’t have any, panic was quietly setting in!  However Sonia, the lovely shop owner taught me a little trick that worked a treat.   By pushing fondant through a small sieve it creates grass that can be cut from the sieve and stuck on the cake.  It was easy to do and looked really effective.  I love learning new cake tricks!!

I opted for a golf bag to swiftly avoid having to model people and chose the colour red as with Colin being a Liverpool fan it was a safe bet.  I was then told by Colin that his golf bag is actually red and black  perfect guess work!

Colin reported back that he loved his cake yeay!  Happy Birthday Colin!
